About
Hi! My name is Karla Janette, I am a Licensed Esthetician and Certified Permanent Makeup Artist, owner of KJ Beauty Studio LLC. I am based in Colorado primarily working in Glenwood Springs and Denver. My goal is to help my clients enhance their beauty through permanent makeup (PMU), brow laminations and more! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! What are Ombré powder brows? Ombré powder brows are a form of semipermanent makeup (cosmetic tattoo) which is done using a machine and a tiny needle. The tiny needle is used to deposit pigment into the skin creating “pixels” or dots. These tiny dots end up creating soft shading effect on the brows, resembling a soft makeup powder or shading look. These effects of this technique are waterproof, smudge-proof, long lasting and very low maintenance. Is this Microblading? No, this technique is not microblading. Microblading is a different style of permanent makeup which is done using a blade. The blade creates fine hair strokes into the skin. Ombré powder brows are shading not hairstrokes. Unlike Microblading, powder shading is more ideal for all skin types and has a much softer effect on the brows, aging nicely over the years. How long do they last? Semi- permanent makeup is a 2 step process. Your initial session, then 6-10 week follow up touch-up session. After attending both sessions, your results can last 1-3 years. Within that time you may require an additional touch-up to maintain your color. Results are all dependent of skin, lifestyle and sun exposure. The color is semi-permanent hence, you need to maintain the color over the years as they fade. What’s the procedure like? The entire appointment is about 2-3 hours. As you arrive to your appointment you will be provided further information about the technique, healing and aftercare. Before the tattooing, we will shape and map your brows. The mapping will be done following your natural brows and facial features. You can provide me with photos of your typical brow makeup if desired. Once the pre-drawn shape is completed, you will be able to visualize the shape we will be tattooing. The shape must be approved by you in order to proceed. We will then discuss color choices. Once we begin the tattooing, numbing will be applied making most of the procedure comfortable. Brow Tattoo Pre-Care Checklist: - 1 week before: Stop retinol, AHAs, glycolic acid or exfoliating products near brows. Avoid Botox/fillers around the forehead for at least 2-3 weeks. No chemical peels or strong facials. - 72 Hours Before: No fish oil, vitamin E, or blood-thinning supplements. Avoid Asprin, ibuprofen, naproxen (unless prescribed). - 48 Hours Before: Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Do not wax, tweeze, or thread your brows, let your artist shape them. - Day of appointment: No makeup around brows. Eat beforehand and stay hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing. Lip Blush Tattoo Pre-Care Checklist: - 1 week before: Begin hydrating lips with balm (dry/chapped lips can’t be tattooed). Exfoliate gently with a lip scrub or sugar/honey mixture. If prone to cold sores, start an antiviral (acyclovir or Valtrex) 3 days before and 4-5 days after. 72 Hours Before: Avoid blood thinners, including fish oil and Asprin. Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Stay well hydrated. -Day of appointment: No lipstick or balm on your lips. Drink water, avoid hot or spicy foods before and after. Bring your antiviral medication if prescribed. Brow Healing- What to expect after On average, brows will undergo healing for a period of 10-14 days. This includes initial darkness, minimal scabbing and peeling. Within these days you must follow proper aftercare instructions in order to avoid infection and to achieve the best results. Brows are estimated to fade anywhere from 20-40% after your initial session. At 6-10 weeks after your first session it’s recommended you return to one follow-up session. During the touch-up session we correct any color loss from the initial session. Brow lamination + Tint or Hybrid Stain Can’t commit to a tattoo? Try a brow lamination and tint or stain! Brow lamination is the process of straightening and lifting the brow hairs using a perming solution. This creates a fluffier and fuller effect on the brows and making them appear more tamed. A hybrid stain is applied to add more color and shape. Brows are mapped to your features. This is a painless, non-invasive procedure, results lasts around 6-8 weeks. Tint will stain the skin for up to 10 days and tint the hair for 4-6 weeks! Prepare for your lamination appointment: - Avoid retinol, AHAs, BHAs. - Chemical peels & Accutane. - DO NOT trim brow hairs. - Avoid exfoliants.Business Hours
